Consent to Telehealth
Last modified: May 17, 2026
What telehealth is
Telehealth is the delivery of clinical health-care services through electronic communication. On Good Guy Rx, telehealth means an online medical evaluation between you and an independent licensed clinician, delivered through written intake, secure messaging, photo or video submission, and (where the clinician requires it) a live video or telephone visit.
This Consent to Telehealth describes how telehealth works through the Good Guy Rx platform, the risks and benefits, what you are agreeing to when you complete an online medical evaluation, and what protections you have. It is part of our Terms of Service. By submitting an intake form, you acknowledge and agree to this Consent.
How it works
- You complete a written intake — your medical history, current medications, symptoms, and the treatment you are interested in.
- An independent licensed clinician credentialed in your state reviews your intake.
- The clinician determines whether the requested treatment is medically appropriate. If additional information is needed (a follow-up question, a photo, lab work, or a video visit), the clinician will request it before making a determination.
- If the clinician issues a prescription, it is sent electronically to an independent state-licensed pharmacy that ships the medication to you.
- If the clinician determines the requested treatment is not appropriate, they will tell you why and may recommend alternatives, additional workup, or an in-person referral. You are not charged for medications that are not prescribed.
- You can message the clinician at any time through the patient portal for follow-up, dose adjustments, side-effect questions, or refill review.
Benefits of telehealth
- Access to a licensed clinician without leaving home.
- Discreet care for sensitive concerns (sexual health, mental wellness, hair loss).
- Asynchronous messaging that fits your schedule.
- Transparent pricing and no insurance hassles.
- Continuity of care — ongoing dose adjustments, side-effect management, and refill review with the same clinician where possible.
Risks and limitations
Telehealth is not a complete substitute for in-person medical care. You should understand and accept the following:
- No physical examination. The clinician cannot examine you in person, palpate, auscultate, or perform vital-sign measurements directly. Some conditions cannot be safely diagnosed or treated through telehealth alone.
- Reliance on patient-provided information. The clinician's evaluation depends on the accuracy of the information you provide. Inaccurate or incomplete information may lead to a poor clinical decision.
- Technology limitations. Internet outages, hardware failure, or service interruption may delay communication.
- Security risks. Despite encryption and HIPAA-compliant infrastructure, electronic communications carry some risk of unauthorized access. We use industry-standard safeguards but cannot guarantee absolute security.
- Emergency limitations. Telehealth is not appropriate for emergencies. If you have a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
Your consent
By submitting an intake form on the Good Guy Rx platform, you affirm that:
- You are at least 18 years old.
- You reside in the United States and are physically located in a state where the platform offers care.
- You have read and understood this Consent to Telehealth and the risks described above.
- The information you provided in the intake is accurate, current, and complete to the best of your knowledge.
- You authorize the licensed clinician reviewing your intake to evaluate you, communicate with you through the patient portal, and (if appropriate) issue a prescription to be filled by an independent state-licensed pharmacy.
- You consent to the storage of your intake responses, medical history, photos or other submissions, clinical notes, prescription records, and messages in the platform's secure patient portal in accordance with HIPAA and applicable state privacy law.
- You understand that you may withdraw this consent at any time by emailing hello@goodguyrx.com. Withdrawal of consent does not affect treatment already provided.
State-specific requirements
Telehealth is regulated at the state level. Each state has different rules about what services can be delivered through telehealth, what providers can prescribe, and what medications require an in-person visit. The independent clinician reviewing your intake is licensed and credentialed in your state and will follow that state's rules. If a treatment you request is not available in your state, the clinician will tell you why.
Your medical records
Your medical records are stored in the platform's HIPAA-secured patient portal and remain available to you for the duration of your relationship with Good Guy Rx. You may request a copy of your records at any time by emailing hello@goodguyrx.com. See our HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices for details on how your information is handled.
Controlled substances
The Good Guy Rx platform does not prescribe federally scheduled controlled substances (Schedule II–V) unless and until explicitly authorized under federal and state law. Medications that are not controlled substances — including the GLP-1 medications, PDE5 inhibitors (sildenafil and tadalafil), finasteride, minoxidil, and the wellness injections offered through the platform — may be prescribed via telehealth where state law permits.
Emergencies
Good Guy Rx is not an emergency service. Do not use the platform for any medical emergency. If you are experiencing chest pain, signs of stroke, severe allergic reaction, suicidal thoughts, or any other medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department immediately. For the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, dial or text 988.
