Physician Code of Conduct

Last modified: May 17, 2026

Purpose

Good Guy Rx is a technology platform. We do not practice medicine. The independent licensed physicians and clinicians who prescribe through our platform are credentialed in the states where their patients reside and operate under the medical-board rules of those jurisdictions. This Physician Code of Conduct describes the standards every clinician agrees to before accepting patient evaluations on the Good Guy Rx platform.

This document is part of our Terms of Service and is intended for patient transparency. It is not legal advice, and it does not establish a standard of care beyond what is required by applicable law, the clinician's licensing board, and the clinician's professional society.

Clinical independence

Every clinical decision — whether to evaluate a patient, whether to issue a prescription, what dose and route to use, when to adjust treatment, and when to discontinue therapy — is made by the licensed clinician based on the patient's individual medical evaluation. Good Guy Rx does not direct, influence, or override clinical judgment.

Clinicians are not compensated based on the volume of prescriptions issued, the price of medications prescribed, or whether a patient is approved or denied for treatment. Compensation is structured so that the clinician's only incentive is to do right by the patient.

Patient-first care

  • Clinicians review the patient's intake responses, medical history, and any laboratory results provided before making any clinical determination.
  • If a patient is not an appropriate candidate for a requested medication, the clinician will not prescribe it, regardless of patient preference or expectation.
  • Clinicians will recommend alternative treatments, additional workup, or in-person referral when clinically appropriate.
  • Clinicians will not minimize, dismiss, or pressure patients regarding their concerns, comfort, or questions.
  • Clinicians will not make pricing-contingent treatment recommendations. The price of a medication does not influence whether it is prescribed.

Compounded medications

When a clinician prescribes a compounded medication through the Good Guy Rx platform, the clinician acknowledges that compounded drugs are not FDA-approved and are not reviewed by the FDA for safety, effectiveness, or quality. The clinician must determine that a compounded formulation is clinically appropriate for the individual patient — not a substitute selected for cost or convenience alone.

Patients receiving compounded medications will be informed in plain language that the medication is compounded, what that means, and what alternative FDA-approved options exist where applicable.

Communication and follow-up

  • Clinicians respond to in-app patient messages within one (1) business day for non-urgent questions, and same-day for urgent symptom reports.
  • Clinicians provide ongoing dose-adjustment guidance, side-effect management, and refill review for the duration of the patient's treatment.
  • Clinicians document each clinical decision in the patient's chart with the reasoning behind it.
  • Clinicians make clear to every patient that the Good Guy Rx platform is not a substitute for emergency care. Patients are instructed to call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department for any emergency.

Conflicts of interest

Clinicians do not hold financial relationships with pharmaceutical manufacturers, compounding pharmacies, or third parties that could influence their clinical recommendations on the Good Guy Rx platform. Clinicians disclose any potential conflict of interest to Good Guy Rx in writing before accepting patient evaluations.

Privacy and HIPAA

Clinicians treat all patient information as protected health information (PHI) under HIPAA and applicable state privacy law. Clinical notes, medical histories, and prescription records are stored in the platform's HIPAA-secured patient portal. Patient information is not shared outside of the clinical relationship except as required by law, court order, or the patient's explicit written authorization. See our HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices for details.

Compliance and reporting

  • Clinicians comply with all federal and state laws governing the practice of medicine, telehealth, controlled substances, and prescription drug dispensing.
  • Clinicians self-report any adverse event, suspected drug interaction, or safety concern through the platform's reporting system, in addition to mandatory FDA MedWatch reporting where applicable. See our Adverse Event Reporting policy.
  • Clinicians cooperate with all medical-board investigations and disclose any disciplinary action.
  • Clinicians may not prescribe controlled substances through the Good Guy Rx platform unless explicitly authorized under federal and state law.

Your rights as a patient

  • You have the right to a clear explanation of your diagnosis, treatment options, and expected outcomes.
  • You have the right to refuse any prescription or recommendation without penalty.
  • You have the right to request your medical records at any time.
  • You have the right to be evaluated by a clinician who is licensed in your state.
  • You have the right to file a complaint about the care you received. Contact hello@goodguyrx.com to begin the process, or contact your state's medical board directly.
