Everything you need to know about Mounjaro® — how it works, what to expect, and how to get started with a licensed provider.

Important safety information

Same active molecule (tirzepatide), different FDA-approved indication. Zepbound is FDA-approved for weight management. Mounjaro is FDA-approved for type 2 diabetes. Providers may prescribe Mounjaro off-label for weight when clinically appropriate.

Mounjaro activates both GIP and GLP-1 receptors. Ozempic and Wegovy activate GLP-1 only. The dual-receptor mechanism is associated with higher average weight loss in clinical trials.

If 4 days or fewer have passed since your missed dose, take it as soon as possible and resume your weekly schedule. If more than 4 days have passed, skip the missed dose and take the next one on your regular day.

Appetite changes typically appear in 1–2 weeks. Visible weight loss commonly shows in 4–8 weeks. Continued steady loss with adherence to dose titration plan + lifestyle changes.
